In 1977, Dick Hoyt participated in a five-mile benefit run while
pushing his paralyzed son, Rick Hoyt,in a wheelchair. After the race
his son told Dick Hoyt that he just didn’t feel handicapped when they
were competing. They have since competed in over a hundred triathlons
and marathons together.
